Feeding Our Neighbors Campaign

PRAIRIE successfully completed a MDA Local Food Purchase Assistance Grant, which provided funds totaling $91,000 to directly purchase produce, fruits, grains, meat and eggs from local small producers, including the farmers involved in the New Roots Farm Incubator, and donated into our local hunger stream. This means fresh organic foods were distributed through a network of nonprofits, local food pantries, and the Great Plains Food Bank to those who are most in need.

 

MDA has launched a new grant, using state funds, since the federal dollars were eliminated from the budget. Proposals are due March 31st. PRAIRIE is again applying for these funds and intends to raise $50,000 in matching funds, enabling us to distribute $135,000 total with this next round of funding.
